It is with both sadness and excitement that I am writing this letter to let you know that, after 26 years, I will be leaving Del Ray Animal Hospital to pursue the next chapter in my life. My husband Gene and I will be moving to Calvert County Maryland to be closer to our growing family (expecting grandchild number four in November!) and to live a more quiet and low-key lifestyle outside of the hustle and bustle of the beltway. This is a deeply emotional decision for me as I have spent my entire adult life here in Alexandria with my Del Ray Animal Hospital family. My relationships with my coworkers, clients and of course my patients have been an integral part of my growth and development as a veterinarian. I will miss all of you and your furry family members more than you can imagine.
When I joined the practice under the mentorship of Dr. Farrell in 1992, we were a small practice nestled among the homes of a “ transitional” neighborhood. I have seen the practice and the neighborhood grow to become a beautiful part of an amazing community , and I feel lucky to have been a part of it. I am grateful for all of you and am confident that I am leaving you in very capable hands. My last day will be August 16th and a casual happy hour style farewell celebration will be announced. I hope to see you there!
Del Ray Animal Hospital is very excited to be participating in this wonderful event! Stop by our table June 23rd to get lots of good information on pet wellness and care. We will be offering some excellent raffle prizes, discounts and freebees as well!

MLS Laser Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light that have a strong anti-inflammatory, anti-edema effect on tissues that are exposed to the laser. Painful conditions accompanied by swelling or inflammation benefit from this technology. Photons of laser energy penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. As a result of exposure to the MLS Laser, the cells of tendons, ligaments and muscles repair themselves faster. As inflammation is reduced pain subsides very quickly. In simple terms, laser energy kick-starts the healing process, thereby speeding recovery.
All of our surgery patients receive laser therapy after their operation as part of our pain management protocol.

Gemini would love to come home with you! He is a 4 year Neutered Male Brown Tabby. He loves attention and food! He has even learned how to sit for treats! He would do well with most cats and dogs. He is being fostered at Del Ray now. Click here for further information about him.
Sushi is being fostered at Del Ray Animal Hospital. He is a 3 year old neutered male who is extremely affectionate! He is not very fond of young children, but older kids are fine. He can be a little intimidating to shy cats. He is not a huge fan of dogs but could probably learn to live with them. If you have room in your home for this loveable guy please call Del Ray or check out his petfinder profile.
Attention cat lovers!!! Honeybun needs a foster home! Unfortunate circumstances have rendered him temporarily homeless, and he’s been our visitor here in the hospital for quite a while! As much as we love him, it would be nice to see him in a home environment. He is a 15 year old kitty, with quite a personality. He is an older gentleman and therefore very opinionated. He would be best in a home without children. He takes a little bit of time to get acclimated to his new surroundings and to warm up to strangers, but once he does, he is very pleasant company. He has no known health issues. Please consider fostering him until he can go back home again, or share this information with someone you know who may be able to help! Send us a message or call the hospital if you have any questions! Let’s find Honeybun a foster home!!
