Introducing the Piezowave
September 8, 2022 1:26 pm Comments Off on Introducing the PiezowaveThe piezowave is very effective at treating bone, joint and tendon injuries even if chronic like arthritis. This modality uses acoustic sound waves to mechanically stimulate deep tissues in a focused and precise manner. The machine looks like an ultrasound machine and even uses ultrasound gel. The sensation is like a deep massage when an injured area is treated. Treatment usually takes around 15 minutes and is performed weekly for three weeks before pain level is reassessed.
Meet Buddy, one of our piezowave patients!
Buddy came in for an appointment because his left forelimb was giving out on walks thus he could only walk two blocks. Upon examination, we determined that he was painful in his neck likely due to a slipped disc and this had resulted in weakness in his left forelimb and decrease in sensation of his left rear paw. We treated him weekly for three weeks with the piezowave and placed him in a harness instead of a traditional collar. Upon reexamination, his pain and limited mobility was resolved and the sensation was now normal in his left rear paw once the slipped disc had been treated! He is now excited to go for his walks and is able to walk for a longer distance again! He still comes in for monthly piezowave treatments for tune ups. The last treatment he was jumping up and down on the benches in the lobby!
